Meshing of skin grafts has gained wide acceptance as a means of conserving donor site tissue in cases of extensive skin loss. In such cases, meshing can permit earlier wound coverage than would otherwise be possible. In smaller injuries, meshed grafts have the advantages of providing more efficient wound drainage than unmeshed grafts. In addition, meshed grafts also conform easily to irregular surface contours and reduce the potential for scarring associated with graft contracture. |
